5 Days Burundi Chimpanzee Safari with Teza Tea, Fishing and Monument Tour: This five days in Burundi will start in Bujumbura and end in Bujumbura. It will include sunrise fishing experience in Lake Tanganyika, Livingstone-Stanley Museum, chimpanzee trek in Vyanda Nature reserve and Teza tea plantation experience and then get transferred to the airport.

Day 1: Arrival At Bujumbura International Airport

On arrival at Bujumbura international airport, you will be met by our guide driver who will welcome you for your trip. He will brief you about your activities in Burundi and you will later be transferred to your hotel at Hotel du Lac Tanganyika for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Fishing Experience on Lake Tanganyika and Livingstone-Stanley Monument

After your early breakfast, you will go for a fishing experience on Lake Tanganyika at around 6AM to see the sun rise. Lake Tanganyika boasts over 350 recorded species of fish, making it an incredibly diverse ecosystem. Fishing on Lake Tanganyika the world’s second largest and deepest freshwater lake, offers a world-class freshwater angling experience. The lake is famous for the massive Tanganyikan Perch which exceeds 100 pounds, Giant Cichlids, and goliath tigerfish, the lake’s crystal-clear waters draw both lure and fly-fishing enthusiasts.

Later in the afternoon, you will head to the Livingstone-Stanley Monument a historical site found in Mugere, situated 12 km south of Bujumbura city. The site features a large, reddish-hued granite rock marking the exact place where the explorer Dr. David Livingstone and journalist Henry Morton Stanley met in 1871.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Vyanda Nature Reserve and Village Walk

On this day, you will drive to Vyanda Nature Reserve for Chimpanzee tracking. Vyanda Nature reserve is located closer to Lake Tanganyika in bururi province, which may give you an opportunity to encounter other animal along the way. Being wild chimpanzees, chances of having close encounters are very minimum compared to other reserves since the chimpanzees in Vyanda forest nature reserve are not habituated to human presence and travellers are expected to walk long distances following the chimpanzees

Later in the afternoon after your lunch, you will proceed with village walk where you will interact with local communities to learn about their lifestyle and how they conserve the wildlife within the nature reserve.

Day 4: Teza tea plantation experience

Wake up early on this day and drive some minutes towards Teza tea factory. You will have an educational experience on what happens behind the scenes of tea growing during day tour. The Teza Tea Plantation is Burundi’s oldest and most scenic tea estate, renowned for its vivid, rolling green hills that are hanging on the edge of Kibira National Park. This tea factory was established in 1931, and it sits at an altitude of 4,500 to 7,000 feet, offering excellent Agro-tourism experiences in the mountains.

The greenery of the estate is relaxing and tranquil, and the air bears countryside freshness. The tour is a farm to cup experience that ends with sampling the different classes of tea. Whether you are a lover of black tea or not, you will love this experience as the tea has a unique taste.

After your Teza tea factory experience, you will be driven back to Bujumbura and stay at your hotel for departure the next day.

You will wake up on this day and prepare yourself for checkout of the hotel and leave for Bujumbura airport for your departure
