Lake chahafi Resort is a luxurious boutique hotel near Kisoro town conveniently located on the shore of the pretty lake Chahafi which is a habitat for birds and home to Uganda’s only Mirror carp fish. The resort hosts guests on safari in Uganda and Rwanda looking for an experiential stay while exploring the destination and unwinding at a peaceful facility. Lake Chahafi Resort is a recently refurbished and expansive facility offering a superb fine dining experience by a roaring fire in a restaurant and various outdoor. dining set up options; and very comfortable accommodation in Lake view cabins, Forest cabins and the Luxurious Mountain view cottages.
The most exclusive lakeside resort in a high-altitude area yet on a relatively gentle slope at 1,897 m asl with a lush garden and forest where kids can play and the seniors don’t climb steep slopes to access their cabins or the restaurant.

Rooms
The lodge has nine ensuites stand alone lake view and forest cabins and Nine Deluxe Mountain view cottages, where five are lake view cabins with a king size bed and an extra single bed; Two tented twin cabins and one triple cabin. Our Tented Cabins are ecologically built and are named after the birds that are common sighting around the lake. These nine cabins are: Pelican; Jacana; Crane; Kingfisher; Cisticola; Heron; moorhen Hamerkop and Warbler. The Cabins have an outdoor veranda space with two chairs, a power charging point. We are a family friendly facility where kids can run in the garden, or ride around.
Bathrooms
The resort has proper running water with both hot and cold showers connected to both hydro and solar water heaters.
Dinning
Our Guests enjoy a fabulous menu on the table so that they can make their own orders or choice of dish. We offer a full English breakfast where a choice of fruits and juices are served when fresh; while hot dishes are served when hot. We observe the service sequence. At Lake Chahafi Resort you will not find our guests in a queue competing for food. Dinner is a three-course meal with: a starter; main course and dissert. We have a vegetable garden where we grow most of our vegetables and serve fresh foods. The Menu caters for both vegetarians and non vegetarians.

Lake Chahafi resort has a thoughtful forested garden that is a birders’ paradise no wonder various bird species call this hidden gem their home. Most birds sighted here are not bothered by your presence in their habitat in addition to the forest; guests enjoy viewing the rolling hills that separate Uganda and Rwanda, the outstanding View of Mount Muhabura and the placid waters of lake Chahafi. When you arrive at the reception the lake remains a surprise until you check in the tented cabins. The gardens are easily accessible and have plenty of trees to offer aesthetic views and a cool shade during the day.

We have a bar with a carefully selected wines, beers and soft drinks. our resident mixologist is happy to make you cocktails, mocktails, mojitos, smoothies and Iced teas. We are away from civilization but will ensure that you are as comfortable as possible while staying with us.
Reception
The reception is your first point of contact with the team and you will do the check in while sipping on a custom-made welcome drink. Be sure to inform us of your dietary restrictions before arrival so we can prepare a custom-made refreshing cocktail or iced tea or Lemonade to refresh you from the tiring journey.
Activities to do at lake chahafi Resort
There are various activities to unwind by Lake chahafi in combination with the top attractions of Gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking and hiking in Mgahinga and Bwindi National parks.
Canoeing
Canoeing experience takes three to four hours and starts from the Lake shore to the southern tip of Lake Chahafi where you navigate by a boat with our site guide through the papyrus ringed lake and water lilies that are a habitat of specular birds. The southern side of the lake is surrounded with hills so much of what to see is open waters with possibilities of sighting the African Jacana, pied Kingfisher, hamerkop, grey crowned crane and common moorhen.
Sunset Trail/World War one trail
This activity can take three to four hours and starts at the lodge in boat. It is more of a luxury trip on the boat cruise on the lake or explore the same in a traditional dugout canoe. You can do bird watching and sightseeing of the rolling hills and the volcano.
It covers the Northern part of the lake and includes a visit to the World War one site where trenches can still be seen, and on the trail, there is a community primary school that you will visit and see how children go about their lives in rural Uganda. The activity will take you through villages, homesteads and farmlands.
You can see birds like Jacana, grey crowned crane, swamp fly catcher, malachite kingfisher, yellow billed ducks, African fish eagle, black crake and much more.
Gorilla Tracking
Early morning preparations from our comfortable tented and deluxe mountain view cottages, we take you to a gorilla experience to track the Mountain gorillas in Bwindi or Mgahinga national park
