How to access mutanda lake resort

By Road

Travelers can access mutanda lake Resort from kisoro town which is about 40-minute drive by road and from Kigali city, it takes 3 to 4 hours drive through cyanika border covering about 145 kilometers.

By Air

By air transport, tourists can book domestic flights through Aero link from kajjansi airstrip to kisoro airstrip taking about an hour and connect to mutanda lake resort by road.

Activities to do at mutanda lake Resort

Hiking

Hikers and nature lovers can join a hiking tour to mount Muhabura the third highest of the eight volcanoes in the Virunga Mountains chain at an altitude of 4,127 metres (13,540 ft). It can be seen from many parts of Uganda and Rwanda because of its height and characteristic slope. Mount muhavura is an inactive volcano mountain with its name in Kinyarwanda dialect meaning a guide. The trail features wooden ladders and breathing taking views where a crater lake awaits you at the top. Reaching the peak of mount muhavura offers more scenic views of Rwanda side.

Travelers also enjoy hiking the steep mount sabinyo that leads hikers to the intersection of the three countries Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic republic of congo. Mount sabinyo is a tooth shaped mountain that is why it was named sabinyo derived from Kinyarwanda word “iryinyo” meaning old man’s teeth.

Mount sabinyo stands at an elevation of 3,669 metres (12,037ft) and offers spectacular ridges and bamboo forests and hagenia hypericum forests. Along the trail, you will reach the first peak (3,423m), second peak (3,537m) and reach the massive intersection of the three countries.

Hike mount Gahinga the dormant volcano and the smallest of the three mountains standing an elevation of 3,474 m above sea level. All these volcanic mountains offer day hikes starting in the morning.

Gorilla trekking in mgahinga and Bwindi impenetrable national park

Here primate watchers, easily arrange for gorilla trekking in Bwindi and mgahinga. It is a fabulous moment watching these endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
