Tchegera island is a scenic and beautiful island like no other in lake Kivu near Goma. The island is located within the Virunga mountains National Park of Democratic Republic of congo. This volcanic u-shaped island offers a relaxation environment for travelers that wants to experience new places. The island was opened in 22nd August 2015 by the ministry of tourism and culture of congo, to promote sustainable tourism to the community surrounding the island. The island is less explored but serves a testament of raw beauty from the tropical climate and winds from lake Kivu.

How to get to Tchegera island
The island is accessed by boat or kayaking from Goma, taking about 25 minutes. Private boats are always available at the kituku port or Goma.

The island has luxuriously tent type of accommodation, each featuring en-suite bathrooms, running hot water showers, flush toilets, and electrical amenities powered by a generator and a solar power system. The tents are comfortable and warm offering unique experiences on the island.
