8 days mount Kilimanjaro Climbing via Machame route “Whiskey Route” means lots of company: sharing the mountain with a lot of other trekkers and is considered the most scenic route up Kilimanjaro. The Machame route is the most popular route up Kilimanjaro summit Uhuru peak at Mt Kilimanjaro National Park Tanzania for trekkers who want to take their time, and enjoy sleeping outdoors and watching the sunrise and set over the Great Rift Valley. You’ll enjoy inspirational views of Kibo Peak, the eternal icefields, and Kili’s scree-covered dome.
Day 1: Arrival In Arusha at Kilimanjaro Airport
On arrival at Kilimanjaro international airport, you will be met by our driver guide to transfer you to your accommodation in Moshi town. You will relax at the lodge for the day or opt for a city orientation to places like Cultural Heritage Centres (art shopping), Tanzanite Experience (gemmology), Meserani Snake Park, and scenic Mount Meru & Lake Duluti for hiking/canoeing.
Relax and prepare for the next day’s adventure
Day 2: Transfer from Moshi town to Machame Gate (1800m) and proceed to Machame Camp (2835m)
On this day, you will wake early in the morning at 6 o’clock and prepare for your journey to Machame gate for briefing and inspecting of your hiking gear and paper work. After everything is done, you will start your trek up into the lush rain forest through the giant trees for about 4 hours. You will have your lunch enroute to Machame camp.

Day 3: From Machame Camp (2835m) ascend to Shira Cave Camp (3750m)
Leave the Machame camp and ascend to Shira camp. The path follows a steep elevation passing through open moorlands crossing a large gorge to reach Shira camp. A challenging but scenic climb from Machame Camp to Shira Camp across the Shira Plateau, changing from dense rainforest into open moorland with dramatic views. It’s an important familiarization day, involving steep climbs, rocky paths, crossing streams, and stunning views of the Shira Plateau and Mount Meru.

Trekking duration: 4-6hrs, 6km
Day 4: Ascend from Shira cave camp (3750m) to Barranco (3900m)
On this day, wake up early and have your morning breakfast. Head Eastwards towards kibo and continue ascending through the dry landscape before dropping again to reach Barranco camp.
Dinner and Overnight stay at the camp.
Trekking duration: 6-7hrs, 10km
Day 5: From Barranco Camp head to Karanga Camp (3995m) for lunch then proceeded to Barafu camp(4673m)
After spending the night at barranco camp, you will notice how beautiful Kilimanjaro really is. Begin your long hike and go through the karanga valley and connect with the Mweka route. This route is preferred after the summit. Along the way turn left up the ridge after and hour or more, you will reach Barafu camp.

Day 6: From Barafu Camp(4673m) Summit to Uhuru Peak (5895m) Then Descend to Mweka (3100m)
On this day, you will need to wake up as early as 2am in the morning. Today is the big day of the summit stage. You will begin your final ascent around 2am which will be long and needs one to be energetic. Along day with an early start to reach the crater, rim at the Stella point in time for sunrise, then to Uhuru peak, the highest point in Africa. After wards, descend back to Mweka camp and then proceed to Barafu camp for an overnight.
Trekking duration: 11-14hrs, 17km
Day 7: Descend from Mweka Camp (3100) to Mweka Gate (1640m) – Moshi
After you have had a well-prepared breakfast at Mweka camp. Start on your descent to Mweka gate, it is a short hike with beautiful trees, other plant species and scenic views. After reaching the gate, you will be handed your certificate of achievement for having reached the summit and conquered the highest peak in Africa.
Transfer to your hotel in Moshi for a hot shower and a well-prepared meal and prepare yourself for your next destination.

Day 8: Departure
Depart Moshi for your next flight at Kilimanjaro international airport or proceed to your next destination in Tanzina or East Africa
