Day 1: Arrival in Fort portal, Amabere caves visit, and cultural experience/entertainment at night
Early morning, you will be picked up from a hotel and head to Fort Portal passing via Mityana and Mubende Highway. The road trip is amazing where you will be passing through different landscapes covered by hilly rocks like in Mubende, natural forests like the Matiri forest reserve, and Kibale Forest. This is one of the best days of the 3 Days Fort Portal Tour.
Expect best viewing for different primates like olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys and if you are lucky enough, you will meet chimpanzees. The overall journey takes about 5-6 hours drive from Kampala but depending on the speed. You will arrive and take part in the cultural experience or entertainment for Batooro who live in Isunga Community. After you will head to the lodge for your accommodation but again, this experience can be done at night after your dinner.
Day 2: Semliki hot springs and visit the crater lakes
After breakfast in the morning, drive to sempaya hot springs in Bundibugyo District a and make the first stopover at the viewpoint. At this point, you will witness the Rift Valley escarpment and enjoy the sharp corners on the foothill of the Rwenzori mountains. You are advised to carry something you can boil while in the Sempaya hot springs such as eggs, Irish, and bananas among others.
Arrive at the offices in Semliki National Park and then you will have a short walk to these springs. Have a great experience as you enjoy the natural steam from these springs. After you will head back to Fort Port and straight away head for crater lakes explorations where you will be able to spot different crater lakes like Lake Nyabikere, Nkuruba, and Nyinabulitwa. Learn about the methods of fishing and the different attractions like the primates, and bird species among others.
Day 3: Tea plantation tour and depart back to Kampala
Take part in a tea plantation experience with the help of a local guide and learn more about the processes of harvesting, planting, and tasting this international delicacy. This short tour will take place in either Fort Portal or at the edge of Kibale Forest National Park. Later head back to Kampala and be dropped at the airport or any point which will mark the end of this 3 Days sempaya and Fort Portal Tour.
