Semliki safari Lodge

Semliki safari lodge is an 18 guests’ accommodation situated deep in Semliki National Park one of the oldest and less explored national parks in Uganda. It is located beneath the foothills of Rwenzori mountains alongside lake albert valley. The lodge offers luxury options in the heart of Semliki national park. it is Perched on a hill overlooking the Semliki valley where the scenic Rwenzori Mountain drafts a shadow. the lodge features African grass thatched houses and wood. The main lodge showcases hand-carved tables, gleaming timber floors, and an open-sided design with communal spaces including a lounge, bar, dining area, library, and swimming pool area with forest views.

How to get to Semliki safari lodge

Semliki safari lodge is accessed by road through the mubende-fortportal route covering a distance of about 385 kilometers and 6-7 hours’ drive from Entebbe international airport. After a short break of relaxation in fort portal city, you drive 1-2 hours to Semliki safari lodge.

The lodge is also accessed via masaka-mbarara-kasese route taking 7-8 hours for a distance of 465 kilometers.

Wildlife viewing

Visitors can experience game drives in Semliki national park during day or night game drives. The animals to see are forest elephants, warthogs, Uganda Kobs, hippos, crocodiles, bushbucks, sitatungas, white stripped jackals, buffalos and nocturnal animals such as leopards.

Primate walks

Primate lovers will track chimpanzees, monkeys, bushbabies and baboons in the tropical forests of Semliki at low cost unlike in Kibale national park.

One of the natural wonders where hot water of over 100 degrees comes out from the underground by means of geo thermal heat. The hot springs carries ancient history that has attracted many tourists traveling to experiment bubbling water temperatures that boil eggs and bananas.

Semliki boasts of a variety of bird species attracting birdwatchers. The birds to spot includes breasted ibis, Kivu ground thrush, regal sunbird, Red rumped tinkerbird, Red billed dwarf hornbill, blue billed malimbe, African openbill, crombec, blue headed coucal, olive greenbul, flycatchers and much more.

Batwa experience

Visit the bakonzo homesteads that stay on the foothills on the Rwenzori mountains. Experience their ways of farming on steep hills, how they carry jerrycans of water and harvests to the markets.

Batuku cattle keepers

These are pastoralists that have stayed and graze their cattle in the Semliki plains for many years, because of their culture they are not allowed to construct permanent houses. They stay in grass thatched huts.

Palm oil factory

The Semliki valley features natural plantations of palm oil trees that gives an opportunity to the locals to construct local producing palm oil factories. The oils are for human consumption and a source of income to this community.

Boat cruise on lake albert

Visitors can enjoy a boat cruise on lake albert in Semliki where they spot shoe bill bird during morning boat rides.

The lodge is open for visitors throughout the year. depending on the season, the lodge experiences warm temperatures that varies from time to time. December, January, February, march, June, July, august are the dry season with less rains while from April, may, October and November is rainy season.
