The tracking takes 5 days and the new tracking permit per category is as follows; for foreign non-Residents, Foreign Residents and Rest of Africa citizens costs $350 respectively while East African Residents permit cost UGX 350,000.

This is uganda’s true African wilderness located in Karamoja district, the park is bordering South Sudan to the northwest and Kenya to the east. The national park is characterised by two main rivers, kidepo and Narus, a variety of birds, abundant wildlife, Narus valley and mount morungole.

 Kidepo harbours a secret along its rugged, elevated terrain, particularly around the remote Morungole Mountain range to the northeast, pockets of denser woodland and montane vegetation create a surprisingly viable microhabitat. Rangers working in the park, biodiversity researchers, and the occasional lucky visitor have all reported golden cat sightings in these wooded zones.

Bwindi impenetrable forest national park

 Bwindi impenetrable forest national park is located in south western Uganda. The misty jungle forest is at an altitude of 1,160m to 2,607m above sea level. The park is home to 400 plant species that provides refuge to some of the world’s rarest wildlife including the African golden cats.

Bwindi impenetrable forest national park harbours 350 bird species, over 120 mammals and the home to half of world’s mountain gorillas. During your golden cat tracking in Bwindi, you will immerse yourself fully in nature where every step counts.

Behaviours and life span of golden cats

Scientific name: caracal Aurata. Males weigh 8-16kg, females weigh 6-8 kg, in body length, males can measure between 62 – 94 cm, females can measure 63-75 cm, golden cats have a tail length of between 23-97 cm.

Golden cats are mostly nocturnal but seen during day time while hunting. They feed on rodents, bats and birds. They have a life span of about 12 years in the wild, give birth to 1-2 kittens
